Emergency Contact Terms

Version 1.0Effective date: October 7, 2026Last updated: October 7, 2026

Someone who trusts you has invited you to be an Emergency Contact for their pet in MyEcho. These terms apply if you accept. Helping is always voluntary, you can say no to any alert, and you can stop at any time.

1. About these terms

These Emergency Contact Terms apply between you and My Echo LTD and My Echo Pets LLC, together with their respective affiliates (collectively, "MyEcho"), when you accept an invitation from a MyEcho user (the "user") to be their Emergency Contact. You become an Emergency Contact only if you accept the invitation and these terms. You must be 18 or older to accept.

The user has authorized you to care for their pet, enter their home where reasonably necessary and arrange veterinary care, as described in the Emergency Contact Authorization and Consent. That authorization comes from the user, not from MyEcho.

2. Your role is voluntary

  • You act voluntarily and on the user's behalf. You are not obliged to respond to any alert or to help.
  • You are not an employee, contractor, agent or representative of MyEcho, and MyEcho does not pay you, train you or supervise you.
  • Any arrangement about what you will do, or about costs, is between you and the user. MyEcho is not a party to it.

3. Emergencies come first

MyEcho is not an emergency service. If a person or animal is in danger, contact your local emergency services first. Never put yourself or anyone else at risk to respond to a MyEcho alert.

4. Your safety and assumption of risk

You understand that caring for an animal and entering another person's home or property involves risks, including bites, scratches and other injuries caused by animals, allergic reactions, an animal escaping, and slips, trips and falls or other hazards on the property.

  • You decide whether, when and how to help, and you are responsible for your own safety and conduct.
  • By choosing to help, you voluntarily accept these risks. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MyEcho is not responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage you suffer while acting as an Emergency Contact, including injury caused by the user's animal or by the condition of the user's property.
  • You are responsible for any harm you cause while acting as an Emergency Contact.

5. How you may act

  • Act only to care for the user's pet, and follow the user's instructions as far as reasonably possible.
  • Enter the user's home or property only as the user has authorized and only as reasonably necessary to care for their pet.
  • Do not search, take or use the user's belongings, other than the pet and the supplies needed to care for it, and do not do anything unlawful.
  • Where possible, try to reach the user, or anyone they named, before making significant decisions.

6. Using the information you are shown

MyEcho may show you information about the user and their pet, including, during an active incident, home-access information and the user's location. Use it only to help with the user's pet, keep it confidential, do not copy or share it, and do not keep it once you no longer need it.

7. Messages from MyEcho

MyEcho will send you invitations, alerts and service messages about the user's pet by push notification, text message (SMS), WhatsApp or email. These are not marketing. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. Delivery of messages is not guaranteed.

8. Your personal information

MyEcho holds the name, phone number and email address the user gave us, the date and time you accepted these terms and their version, and any location you choose to share during an incident. We use this only to send you invitations and alerts and to let you help the user's pet, never for marketing. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it and your rights.

9. Stopping at any time

You can stop being an Emergency Contact at any time, using the option in the invitation or alert messages, the deletion and privacy request form, or by emailing Echo@myecho.pet. The user will see that you are no longer their Emergency Contact, and we will delete your details from their account.

10. MyEcho's responsibility

MyEcho is a technology and communication platform. It does not assume custody or control of any pet or property and does not guarantee that any message will be delivered. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MyEcho is not liable for the acts or omissions of the user or of any other person. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. General

We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will tell you before it takes effect. The governing-law section of our Terms of Use applies to these terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
